About Us
Location
Artisan Organics is located on six leased acres on the south eastern edge of Hillsboro, OR. We are just a few blocks off of Tualatin Valley Highway and have very easy access to public transit.
This land has been in agricultural production since the mid 1940’s when it was settled by the Ryan family. Over the years the Ryan’s acquired adjoining parcels, focusing on those that were slated for development, in order to keep them in agricultural production. Over time, they cobbled together a 24 acre parcel.
Today, this area is within the Hillsboro urban growth boundary and is zoned for high density development. We are a true Urban Farm. I am grateful to the Ryan family descendants who currently own the land for choosing to keep it in agricultural production. It is this commitment that allows you access to truly locally grown food.

Certifications and Conservation
We will complete the three year organic certification process in 2012. We’re hoping to achieve Salmon Safe Certification at the same time. You can find more information at our Certifications page. And, we’ll keep you updated on the certification process through our farm blog.
To round out our commitment to sustainability the land owners and I have developed a Conservation Plan with the Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District. Our conservation activities include removing non-native, invasive plants (blackberries!), building a hedge row, and more. Have you ever seen a Beetle Bank? Have you ever eaten a Dry Land Farmed tomato? You’ll find more information about these and our other conservation activities on our Conservation Page.
